Mission Statement
On advancing my expertise in cybersecurity and undertaking critical challenges,my goal is to deliver my insights and findings to the pedagogical and research activities so that it would tremendously help produce future leaders who would effectively manage our national cybersecurity issues.
About Me

Hello, I am an Assistant Teaching Professor at Arizona State University, School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence SCAI and the SEFCOM lab. I received my Ph.D. from Yonsei University in South Korea. My research interests lie in mobile and wireless network security issues like Telco (5G), Access Control, Blockchain, and Digital Forensics. I don't aim to be the outstanding instructor or researcher—but I do hope to be an educator who prepares with care and teaches with the conviction that I should always be useful to someone, in some way. ☕ Looking ahead to Fall 2026, I am revamping the curriculum for CSE 469, 535, and 543 to enhance the student experience. Key updates include adopting pwn.college and Tracer Fire for CSE 469, as well as refreshing my lecture series on mobile programming to keep content current and practical.

We are proud to announce a new $599,958 NSF Grant (Award ID 2613459) for the project, "CICI: UCSS: Securing Research Cyberinfrastructures with Zero Trust and Agentic AI". This three-year (2026-2029) award will support our team's research in developing advanced cybersecurity for scientific computing systems in partnership with Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC).

This paper explores the security and human factors associated with the integration of agentic AI within access control mechanisms for cyber-infrastructures.

Our paper "Inferring Satellite Network Architectures and Orbital Regimes from End-to-End Traffic" has been accepted in The 2026 IEEE Space, Aerospace and Defence Conference (IEEE SPACE 2026) on July, 19-21, 2026. This paper presents a novel approach utilizing traffic fingerprinting and ensemble learning to identify satellite network architectures and orbital regimes, addressing the critical challenge of analyzing complex satellite communication structures from end-to-end traffic.

Our Paper "Deception by Design: A Configurable Platform for Flexible Cyber Deception Strategy Testing and Evaluation" has been accepted in The 24th International Conference on Applied Cryptography and Network Security (ACNS 2026) on June, 22-25, 2026, This paper presents Cyber Deception Gym (CDGym), a configurable platform designed to address the disconnection between abstract deception strategies and their practical implementation.

Our Paper "Harnessing Software-Defined Network for Cyber Deception Modeling and Analysis" has been accepted in 11th IEEE Conference on Network Functions Virtualization and Software-Defined Networking (IEEE NFV-SDN 2025) on Nov. 10-12, 2025, The paper proposes an SDN-based platform for centralized management and evaluation of cyber deception strategies by bridging theoretical deception models and practical experimentation.

Our paper "Towards Collaboration-Aware Resource Sharing in Research Computing Infrastructures" has been accepted in 11th IEEE International Conference on Collaboration and Internet Computing (IEEE CIC 2025) on Nov. 11-14, 2025, This paper addresses inadequate project-centric data sharing in Research Computing Infrastructures with a formal framework for modeling collaborative contexts with dynamic access management.

Our paper "Mapping the Landscape of Cybersecurity Preparedness: A Systematic Review of Non-Technological Determinants and Consequences" has been accepted in Technology in Society on August 20, 2025. This journal paper highlights the importance of these non-technological elements and recommends that future research adopt an integrative approach to better understand their dynamic interplay and long-term consequences.

Our paper "It's almost like Frankenstein: Investigating the Complexities of Scientific Collaboration and Privilege Management within Research Computing Infrastructures" has been accepted in 46th IEEE Symposium on Security and Privacy (May 12-15, 2025, SAN FRANCISCO). This paper examines security considerations in research computing infrastructures (RCIs) through interviews with experts and stakeholders, highlighting a layered access control approach that challenges traditional models, as collaborative, trust-based sharing raises compliance concerns, and concludes with recommendations to enhance RCI security and flexibility.
